Running down the stairs I couldn't hold my excitement,Mum!,mum!!,I called as I rushed to the kitchen where she was preparing dinner.

Opening my phone I showed her the mail where I was told to resume work the next week.

The DX group is the biggest company in the whole of X city and anyone would be happy to work there."Oh my!! I am so happy for you,my mum said with tears in her eyes,I laughed at her reaction.Though I am going to work as an intern I saw this as an opportunity to network and know people maybe if I work harder I could be retained as a permanent staff...

Dang,Dang,turning over I switched off the alarm that says 5:20am,I had actually set the alarm earlier than usual,I mean who wants to go late on a first day at work.

Rushing towards the bathroom,I took a quick shower and now standing before the mirror,I did my mascara and rubbed my favourite nude lipgloss.I wore a black fitted gown that were just few inches below the knee with a red shoe to match my bag.

At the dinning table my mum had already prepared the dish and I couldn't be more thankful,,beside the plate of dish was a paper,I picked the paper and it read"sweet heart,sorry it was urgent,I just got a call from the doctor and had to rush to the hospital,I hope you enjoy your meal;I made your favorite.Have a happy first day at work ~mum.

After reading the paper,I felt weak and the initial enthusiasm I felt dissipated.I hurriedly ate the food even though I have lost my appetite,I didn't want my mum's effort to be in vain.

Standing at the DX building,I was mesmerized,and like the last time I came for interview it feels surreal.

Going to the front desk I met the receptionist,she was chubby and had this smile on her face.

"Good morning madam,I greeted imitating her smile"Oh,how are you ma,what...wait...uhm,are you the new intern,Ariel Jackson that Mr Kane spoke about"??

She asked and I nodded sheepishly,"okay wait a minute.,"She added and made a phone call,shortly after I saw a man coming towards my direction.

"Hello Ariel,Welcome to DX group,My name is Amos and I will be taking you to your office.

We took the elevator to the 13th floor and stopped at a big door.The office was magnificent and looking around I wondered how the CEO's office would be like.

"Hello everyone,This is Ariel Jackson the new intern and Ariel these are the staff of this department,Amos introduced.Maria she's in your care"Welcome to DX group",Amos said one more time and left.

"Hi everyone,I greeted as I went to the only empty table which I guessed is my spot,I dropped my bag and finally exhale the air that I have been holding"Hi Ariel, you're welcome to the group,I am Maria Madison and I am the director of this group.

"My pleasure Mrs Maria,I said as I return the handshake,and it's also a privilege to be here,I added.

The Office was occupied by five people including my self.Everyone look matured like they were in their late twenties or probably in their early thirties except for a girl who didn't even care to look my way a bit.

"Do you wanna go for lunch,someone said behind me, Turning around I saw it was the girl from earlier who had been so busy to even welcome me.

"Not sure how to respond I just nodded.

At lunch we order a cheese burger with lemonade juice.

"So Ariel what inspired you??to choose this major??The girl whom I later known to be Julia Aspen asked.

Smiling,I recalled.

"Wow,mum,aunt Nina look so gorgeous,The eight years old Ariel exclaimed.I didn't know why,but growing up,I love gorgeous wedding gowns."One day I am going to design a wedding gown",I remembered saying excitedly and my mum laughed but who knew that dream stayed until now and never for once was there a second thought.

"Look who's getting along,Mrs Maria said as she walk passed us.

After lunch we returned to our office.

Sitting down my phone rang,it was my best friend Elsa.

"Hello Elsa

"Hi sweetie,I have been wanting to call but Simon won't let me off, how's your first day at work??

"It's fine and the staff in my department are nice".

"That's good,Simon and I would be going to Georgia and OMG he's been the sweetest guy I have ever met,unlike some ...

"Elsa,it's okay,I know where you are getting at,okay,but look at you,am happy for you and please don't forget to bring as many souvenirs.

"See you when I get back and if that mother f*cker ain't treating you like my simon,you better don't hesitate to give me a call,am gonna fly right back to cut his d*ck,okay?

I couldn't stop laughing,my friend Elsa can be a prick;sometimes.

"Okay ma,,safe trip and muah,I love you"

"I love you too but I gotta go,she said as the line went off.

Bye Mrs Maria,I waved as I also began arranging my table to go home

"Why don't you come let me give you a ride"Mr John,one of the staff in my department offered but I had to decline;"Thanks but I would use the subway,I want to get some groceries across and with that I left the office.Julia had gone earlier saying she have a date to go to.

I wanted to visit my dad so I bought some fresh fruits and toiletries.

Oh my God,Ariel,"My mum was crying as I entered the hospital

"What's wrong mum??

"You know I didn't want you to feel worried on your first day at work,but your dad's condition is critical and the doctor said that for him to survive he has to undergo a surgery.

Looking at my dad,the only emotion I could feel was pain,He is the best dad one could ever ask for and seeing how he's pushing just so he could survive was heartbreaking.

Remembering the way my family was treated that has led to my father's condition,I couldn't help but promise to take revenge.

My grandfather was the CEO of Fu group,The company specializes on jewelries and while my grandfather was sick he had handed the company to my dad who managed it even after the death of my grandfather.

My grandfather had married again shortly after the death of my paternal mother and according to my dad,his stepmother never liked him,she also maltreated him that he had to leave home at a young age and also to the point that she connived with her son three years ago to take over the company leaving my family with nothing but only the house we lived in which actually is the only property my dad has.

"Dad,I promise,they will pay,I cried as I spoke silently to my dad who was asleep.

My mum decided she would stay in the hospital while I returned home.

O was coming out of the bathroom when I heard my phone buzzing,I picked it up and it was my boyfriend,Derrick.

Derrick and I have been together and dating since college for over five years now but he's been acting strange which I noticed two years ago;the year after my father went bankrupt but I chose to tolerate it for the sake of love.He travelled last year to China and he refuse to tell me why or what for but I didn't pry further,he came back earlier this year and just pretended like we've seen each other just yesterday.

"Hi Ari,he called me by my pet name and I felt butterflies,like,we haven't talked for a while now and I missed him so much.

"Hi babe,I responded, smiling.

"I want to tell you something but I hope you would understand"he said and gave a long pause.

With my heart beating,I feel like I know what he wants to say and the once smiling face look hopefully,"Okay,am all ears.

"I would be getting engage to my fiancee next month and I would want you to be there,but before that I want to say I am sorry,this whole relationship never worked for us,there was distance and.....erm..erm.. I felt detached and I don't know.... I don't feel that love that I felt initially but now I am happy cause I have seen the love of my life and I really want you to be there in my big day.

Speechless,I don't know how to feel,the butterflies I felt earlier I am sure they had been dead by now,I didn't want to give him the reaction he expected so I just calmly told him;"Congratulations,if it makes you happy,but I don't think I would be there,I am busy".

The nerve,he has to invite me after cheating on me all this while was magnanimous with no sincere apologies whatsoever.I couldn't believe I have been in love with a prick this whole time.Lol.

With all the emotions I was feeling,I decided to take a stroll.

I entered this cafe cause right now I needed something to forget or maybe relief me from this heartbreak.I ordered a hot coffee,this is the only option I have as I quit drinking alcohol.

Sitting across the road side,I saw a figure that look familiar,I don't know but I really wanted to check,carrying my coffee I stood up instantly but who knew I would bumped into someone immediately I turned.

"Oh am sorry,I didn't mean to.Frantic,I looked for a towel in my bag but I didn't have one.My hot coffee poured all over but the stranger just stood,looking up I saw a man,I mean he was the most beautiful creature I have ever seen,his lips and eyes were like....

"You poured your coffee on me and you have the nerve to just stand and stare".His magnetic voice brought me from my reverie.

"Huh..My bad,I am sincerely sorry and I would take responsibility".

"You will take responsibility?,how??the stranger asked angrily.

"Mhmm..Mister how about you go to the bathroom,I would send a new clothe".That was the only way I could think of,looking at his exquisite appearance I bet his clothes were from expensive brand.

"Really,then will you get me this same outfit??

What!I couldn't believe,the admiration I felt for this stranger dissipated and I couldn't imagine how inhumane he is

"Excuse me mister,don't you have some conscience?,it's just a coffee spill and I sincerely said I am sorry and even agreed to take responsibility by getting you a new outfit but saying I should get exactly this outfit is outrageous".

"Then,miss how about I get you served for property damage".

"Property?,damage?,what property damage?.this whole pandemics was beginning to look ridiculous".

"Miss,my clothe is worth millions and it's my property which you've just damage".

"Well,I didn't damage your property and you can't serve me for something so trivial.

"Then test me".

With that the stranger took a phone to dial a number.

His nerve,audacity and promiscuous attitude made me nervous,thinking of my father and my new job,I decided to beg,maybe he would be considerate this time and oh my big mouth,see to what extent it has taken me to.

Seeing my nervous state I guess,the stranger pause,putting his phone call aside.

If you can't afford to get me an exact outfit or don't want to get serve,how about you marry me and then at the end,you don't have to buy me any outfit?

"What?",surprised,I looked at the stranger again,but this time the look was different,I was trying to decipher if he was normal but his second statement caught me off guard.

"It's going to be a contractual marriage,after a year you will be free, you don't have to worry about expenses,you will leave with four hundred million dollars and any property of your choice;in your name.

"Excuse me mister but do I look like I'm poor or homeless",I retorted.

I didn't even get an answer and he turned to leave."If you think about it give this number a call,the man who has been standing behind him this whole time said as he gave me a card.With that they left and I just stood

there bewildered staring at his back.
