Chapter 1 The Wedding

Amanda Wilson's wedding day began with a sense of joy and excitement as she gazed out of her bedroom window, the sun casting a warm glow over the lush garden below. Adorned in a stunning white satin lace bridal gown, its delicate fabric shimmering in the soft light, she couldn't help but feel radiant and beautiful. Today, she would become Damon Savage's wife, a thought that made her blush with happiness.

Her mind drifted back to their first encounter, remembering how she had initially refused his advances. Back then, she couldn't stand his ego and ruthlessness. But he had been persistent, showering her with extravagant gifts and whisking her away on exotic dates until she had finally let her walls down. Now, as she admired the sparkling diamond ring on her finger, she knew that giving him a chance had been the best decision of her life.

But, amidst the joy and anticipation, a small seed of doubt began to take root in the back of her mind. She couldn't help but wonder if there was more to Damon than she had initially thought. Shaking off the thought, she took a deep breath and reminded herself that today was a day for celebration.

However, her elation turned into worry when she arrived at the elegant, centuries-old church and found Damon conspicuously absent. The guests were already taking their seats, their murmured conversations echoing softly throughout the grand hall adorned with fragrant floral arrangements.

Her maid of honor, Mia, offered a reassuring smile as she noticed Amanda's distress. "I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation," she whispered. "Maybe they got caught up in traffic."

Amanda nodded, though her stomach churned with nerves, tears welling up in her eyes. A terrifying possibility began to gnaw at the edge of her mind - what if Damon had changed his mind about the wedding? She had never known him to be late for anything.

Amanda's bridesmaids gently guided her to a private room, away from the prying eyes and whispered rumors of the guests. They encouraged her to sit down and take a few deep breaths, hoping to calm her frayed nerves. As she sank into the chair, Amanda felt as though her entire world was collapsing around her.

Amanda's heart pounded in her chest as the clock kept ticking, each passing second heightening her fear that she might be left standing at the altar alone. Why hadn't Damon arrived? Was he having second thoughts about their marriage? Her family and friends gathered around her, offering words of comfort and support.

Before she could delve further into her worries, the faint hum of an engine outside momentarily caught her attention, and she desperately hoped that it was Damon, arriving just in time to make her fears disappear.

The sound of a car pulling up outside caught everyone's attention. Fred, Damon's cousin, stepped out of the vehicle and glanced nervously at the church entrance before turning to the passenger seat.

"We're here, Damon," Fred said, leaning in to speak to his cousin. "It's time to go inside and get married."

But the man in the passenger seat didn't move. He sat there, unmoving, his eyes glazed over. Fred's concern grew as he realized something was wrong.

"Damon, snap out of it!" Fred said, shaking his cousin by the shoulders. But the man remained unresponsive, lost in some internal struggle that Fred could only guess at.

With Damon's unresponsiveness, Fred knew he had to act quickly. He shook his cousin's shoulders again, hoping to rouse him from his dazed state.

"Damon, snap out of it! Amanda is waiting for you," Fred urged.

After a few tense moments, Damon blinked his eyes open, his expression a mix of confusion and relief.

"What happened?" Damon asked, rubbing his forehead as he tried to collect his thoughts.

"We don't have time to figure that out now," Fred replied. "We need to get you inside the church for your wedding."

Supporting Damon's weight, Fred guided him out of the car and helped him straighten his tuxedo. As they made their way towards the church doors, Fred could feel the anticipation in the air.

As they entered the church, Amanda who stood at the altar locked eyes with Damon, with a mixture of worry and hope in her gaze.
