Chapter 1 Damien's pov

"Ahahah..."

The mocking laughter of Damien sounded heavy causing me to fume in anger, but I kept my head bowed low. I said nothing as he threw various insults my way. It wasn't like I was okay with it, I had nothing to do with him and that was something he knew.

Being the son of an Alpha, Damien did whatever he wanted with no regards to the feelings of others.

"Do you have any idea on how ugly you are? Where don't you dissapear and save us the stress of staring at your ugly face everyday? '' He continued to taunt and laugh. My heart was boiling but I chose to keep my cool and not do anything out of character.

"If I'm that bad to you, why don't you stop looking at my face for a change and save me the stress of hearing your ugly laughter everyday?" Unable to bear it anymore, I sneered back at him. His eyes changed the moment he heard what I said. Obviously my words hit the right spot.

"What?" With his eyes widely opened very different from usual, and his nose flaring up, I knew I had just pissed him up.

I looked around the little corridor of the pack house which he had cornered me into, I tried looking for an escape route but unfortunately, there was none because the animal in front of me had expected it and used his whole blurry figure to block my escape route.

"How dare you speak to me like that?" Gritting his teeth hard, he grabbed onto my neck and squeezed hard, as if to squash my throat.

"Mmm....." my eyes flew wide in panic as I flare my hands.

As the second passed by, I could feel my life flashing in front of my eyes.

"You think because you dad is the beta of the pack, I dare not do anything to you, huh?" His eyes staring daggers at me, he asked, his hands still squeezing harder.

Was this how I was going to die? I haven't found my mate yet, and I can't just leave dad alone.

No...no..., I can't just leave like that, I still have a lot of things that I wanted to do.

With this thought running through my mind, I began scratching and slapping hard at him. But everything I did seemed to be like an ant kicking an elephant. It had no impact.

At that moment when I thought my life was over someone ran hastily to our side, and seemed to mind linking with Damien, which had him releasing his hands from my neck and dashing away without even sparing my already fallen and limp body a glance.

Breathing as much air as my lungs needed, I tried stabilizing myself.

"You are going to pay, Damien," I said to myself, before dusting myself and making my way back home, which was located at the far end of the pack lands.

I'd rather stay home and study in my mini lab, but my dad won't let me... He would always say.

"Dianedear, you need to go out and make friends. You need to associate with your peers."

It's not like I wouldn't love to make friends with everyone, it's just that no one wants to make friends with me. I'm considered bad luck by the pack. Except, from Damien, every other person stays far from afraid of the wrath of my dad if they dare to bully me. The only thing they could do was gossip in hushed voices saying all kinds of stuff about me.

"I heard that she killed her mom with her poison, that she's a witch." I had caught one of the pack members saying.

How ridiculous, right?

As a werewolf, I am gifted in healing and from a young age, my dad had told me that I might become the next pack healer, and that got me studying hard.

This made me proficient in different treatments and also poisons.

But whatever, I don't care how they see me, because one day I'll prove to them that I'm not a witch with my abilities rather than words.

Reaching the wooden cabin, I could smell the scent of my dad and some bacon, which indicated he was home. This instantly lifted my mood.

Pushing open the door slowly, I tiptoed to the kitchen, towards my dad, who was busy with what he was cooking.

"Hah!!!!" I shouted immediately I was at his back, but he remained still not flinching a bit.

"Have you forgotten that I'm the beta and a warrior of this pack?" Turning around with a huge grin plastered on his handsome face he asked.

Pouting my lips, I huffed and made my way to the sink to wash my hands. This had him busting out in laughter, turning from the sink I glared hard at him.

"Can't you just pretend for once?" I hissed, going to stand next to him to see what he was preparing.

"No, I can't. you know that it'll be a lie," he replied, pouring some eggs into the tomato sauce he was making.

"Hump..., I'm not talking to you again," I retorted, turning to look away from him.

"Okay I'm sorry, I'll pretend to be startled next time," placing his hands on my shoulder. He tried coursing me but I didn't bulge a bit.

"Okay go outside and do it again, and this time I'll be startled," he suggested when I said nothing.

"And that would make me look stupid," I turned and stared at him wide eyed.

"Then what do you want? Tell me anything and I'll do it for you," he quickly said, grabbing onto my shoulder so I won't turn away.

"Humm...," I placed my hand on my chin and pretended to be in thought,

"Double servings of dinner," I smiled and spoke.

"And that you'll get princess," rubbing the top of my hair he said smiling, before going back to cooking.

"I'll get the table ready," hopping happily, I began bringing out plates and other cutleries from the cupboard and set the dinner table.

In a few minutes dad was done and brought over the dishes, which smelled delicious.

Since my mom died when I was young, dad had taken the sole responsibility of taking care of me. To me he was my best friend and everything, always looking out for the best for me.

He refused to take on another mate and tamed his heart properly so he wouldn't turn rouge, cause as werewolves once we lose our mates, we also lose ourselves. So many people tend to mate with another to keep sane.

"How was your day?" He suddenly asked as we ate,

"It was okay," I told him, not intending to tell him anything about Damien, I know by now the marks on me would have healed by now, coupled with the fact that I'm werewolf and also a healer. My recovery time was faster than normal werewolves.

"Tomorrow is the alpha son's birthday, and a party is going to be thrown," he said,

"A party is always thrown dad," with Damien' personality he wouldn't miss an opportunity to throw himself a party.

"Are you going to attend," dropping his spoon to stare at me, he inquired, I hate going to such gatherings and he knew my answer, which was always no,

"Before you say no, please consider the fact that you might find your mate if you attend," he quickly added.

Shaking my head mentally, I gave him a thumbs up for that, finding my mate was something I always dreamed of doing and since I shifted on my sixteenth birthday, I haven't found me.

My dad says it because I'm a healer and it takes time for us to find our mates. This year I'm turning 18, and I really hope I find one very soon, but going to Damien' party was not an option to me, not after what he pulled off today.

"No dad, I'm not going," I shook my head as I continued eating.

"But can you still think about it, you still have time cause the party is tomorrow evening." He said,

"Okay, I'll think about it," I assured him.

"Alright, I still have some rounds to do at the border, eat and go to bed early," Standing up from his seat he instructed before making his way out of the door.

After dinner I cleared the table before making my way to my mini lab. I had been working on a portion and eating at the table suddenly gave me an idea.

Picking up the little glass container with a colorless liquid swirling inside, my thoughts wandered to the annoying face of Damien.

Smiling brightly, I stared happily at the glass.

Damien party I sure most attend, because I can't wait to hear the sound of his horrendous cry.

"Hahaha......," clutching my stomach, I laughed harder at my silly imagination.
