Chapter 1 The unexpected encounter

Sophia walked across campus, her mind preoccupied with the upcoming exam in her psychology class. She had been studying for weeks, but she couldn't shake off the feeling that she was not fully prepared. As she turned a corner, she collided with a tall, handsome guy. His books and papers went flying out of his hands, and Sophia's coffee splattered all over her shirt. "Oh no, I'm so sorry!" Sophia exclaimed, as she quickly grabbed a handful of napkins from her bag to help clean up the mess. The guy smiled and handed her a book. "It's okay, I'm the one who should be apologizing.

I wasn't watching where I was going." Sophia took the book and smiled back. "No worries, it's just a coffee stain. I'm Sophia, by the way." "Austin," he replied, holding out his hand for her to shake. As they shook hands, Sophia felt a spark of electricity run through her body. She couldn't help but notice how cute Austin was, with his messy brown hair and bright blue eyes. "Well, Austin, it was nice running into you," Sophia said, trying to sound casual. "Likewise, Sophia," Austin replied, grinning. "Maybe I'll see you around campus?" Sophia nodded and watched as Austin walked away, feeling a sense of excitement that she hadn't felt in a long time.

As Sophia watched Austin walk away, she couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. She had never believed in love at first sight, but there was something about Austin that had caught her attention. She continued on her way to class, but her mind kept wandering back to Austin. She wondered if she would see him again, and what it would be like to get to know him better. After class, Sophia headed to the library to study for her exam. As she was browsing through a shelf of books, she heard a familiar voice behind her. "Hey, Sophia. Fancy seeing you here." Sophia turned around to see Austin standing behind her, a book in his hand. "Austin! What are you doing here?" Sophia asked, trying to sound casual. "I'm studying for my own exam," Austin replied. "I couldn't help but notice you're reading the same book as me." Sophia laughed. "Great minds think alike, I guess." Austin smiled and sat down next to her. "So, what do you think of the book?" Sophia and Austin spent the next hour discussing the book and getting to know each other. Sophia was surprised at how easy it was to talk to Austin, and how much they had in common. As the library started to close, Austin asked Sophia if she wanted to grab a coffee with him. "I'd love to," Sophia replied, smiling. As they walked out of the library, Sophia couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement. She had a feeling that this was just the beginning of something special.

Austin: "So, Sophia, what do you like to do for fun?" Sophia: "I love to read, hike, and try out new restaurants. How about you?" Austin: "I'm a big fan of playing guitar, watching movies, and playing sports. I'm actually on the college soccer team." Sophia: "That's impressive! I've always loved watching soccer. Do you have a favorite team?" Austin: "Yeah, I'm a huge fan of Manchester United. How about you?" Sophia: "I'm more of a Barcelona fan myself, but I love watching any good match." Austin: "Nice! We should watch a game together sometime." Sophia: "That sounds like fun. I'd love to." As they continued talking, Sophia realized that she was having the time of her life. She couldn't believe how much she had in common with Austin, and how easy it was to talk to him. After a while, Austin glanced at his watch and said, "I'm so sorry, Sophia, but I have to go. I have an early practice tomorrow." Sophia nodded, feeling a little disappointed that their time together was coming to an end. "It was great talking to you, Austin. Maybe I'll see you around?" Austin smiled and stood up. "Definitely. I'll make sure to look for you." As they said their goodbyes, Sophia couldn't help but feel a spark of attraction. She had a feeling that she would be seeing a lot more of Austin in the future.

Sophia: (to herself) Oh no, I totally forgot! Mom asked me to pick up some groceries and drop off her dry cleaning. I'd better hurry! (Sophia quickly gets up and starts walking home) Sophia: (to herself) I hope Mom isn't too mad at me. I got so caught up in talking to Austin that I totally forgot about her errands. (When Sophia gets home, her mom is in the kitchen making dinner) Mom: Hey sweetie, how was your day? Sophia: (breathlessly) It was good, Mom. I'm so sorry but I totally forgot about your errands. I got caught up in talking to someone. Mom: (laughing) That's okay dear. I know how easy it is to get distracted. Did you have a good time talking to this person? Sophia: (excitedly) Yeah, Mom. His name is Austin and he's really nice. We had a lot in common and I really enjoyed talking to him. Mom: (smiling) That's great sweetie. I'm happy for you. Now, let's get those errands done for me, okay? Sophia: (determined) Yes, Mom. I'll get right on it. (Sophia quickly finishes the errands and then helps her mom with dinner) Mom: (smiling) Thanks sweetie. I appreciate your help. Now, tell me more about Austin. Sophia: (excitedly) Mom, he's really great. We talked about books and soccer and... (giggles) I think I might have a crush on him! Mom: (laughing) Well, that's perfectly normal. Just remember to be yourself and have fun getting to know him. Sophia: (smiling) I will, Mom. Thanks for understanding.

Dad: (walking into the kitchen) What's all this I hear about some college boy talking to my daughter? Mom: (calmly) Oh, honey, Sophia was just telling me about a boy she met at school named Austin. Dad: (sternly) Austin? What's his last name? Sophia: (nervously) Dad, it's okay. He's really nice. Dad: (protectively) Nice? I don't care if he's nice. I want to know what his intentions are. Mom: (soothingly) Honey, let's not jump to conclusions. Sophia is a big girl. She can handle herself. Dad: (firmly) I don't care. I want to meet this Austin boy. Sophia: (rolling her eyes) Dad, come on. Dad: (sternly) Sophia, I mean it. I want to meet him. Mom: (interrupting) Okay, dear. Let's just calm down and talk about this. Dad: (firmly) Fine. But Sophia, you're going to introduce me to this Austin boy soon. Sophia: (sighing) Fine, Dad. (The conversation continues with Sophia's dad grilling her about Austin and what his intentions are, while Sophia tries to reassure him that everything is okay) Dad: (sternly) I don't want you seeing him again until I meet him. Sophia: (frustrated) Dad, come on! Mom: (interrupting) Okay, dear. Let's just take a deep breath and talk about this. (The conversation continues with Sophia's mom trying to mediate and calm down the situation)

Dad: (sternly) I mean it, Sophia. I want to meet this Austin boy and make sure he's good enough for my daughter. Sophia: (frustrated) Dad, you're being ridiculous! I'm 20 years old, not 16! Dad: (firmly) That may be, but you're still my daughter and I have a right to protect you. Mom: (calmly) Honey, let's just take a deep breath and talk about this. Sophia, why don't you tell your dad a little bit about Austin? Sophia: (sighing) Fine. Austin is a junior, just like me. He's on the soccer team and he's really nice. We met in the library and we've been studying together. Dad: (skeptically) That's it? You're not leaving anything out? Sophia: (exasperated) Dad, I'm telling you, he's a great guy! You'll like him, I promise. Dad: (sternly) I'll be the judge of that. I want to meet him this weekend. Sophia: (resigned) Fine, Dad. I'll ask him to come over for dinner on Saturday. Mom: (smiling) That sounds like a great idea, dear. I'm sure Austin will be delighted to meet your dad. Dad: (firmly) I'm not doing it for Austin's sake, I'm doing it for Sophia's.
