" Dear God! All I just want is to have a beautiful family with my dearest fiance. I wish nothing more!"
I heard my sister praying while her makeup artist and hairdresser were giving her the best look for her engagement party. Today is her engagement party and one week later, she will be wedded to her Fiancé.
Odette Anderson is my twin sister's name. A gorgeous 25-year-old girl who is well-liked by everyone. Her beauty to her personality, everything is as perfect as a rainbow after the rain. Her eyes are the ocean of summer, radiant blue and calm like spring. The blonde hair she got from my mother, adds the last card of her ethereal beauty.
Today, she is going to engage with her boyfriend, the son of our parents' best friend, a billionaire and obviously, a person with a great personality.
This is the second time I am going to meet him. He is handsome, cool and really easygoing. Not with me or anyone else. To my sister, of course. They're a perfect couple as if they're only made for each other.
" Juliette! Why didn't you change yet? How many times have I told you not to make us ashamed? Did you forget how much humiliation we received on that day?"
I startle when my mother snaps at me.
This is true. I humiliated them with my stupid look. I am not as beautiful as my twin sister. I am 25 years old. But people sometimes think that I am a 40-year-old woman. I weigh 210 pounds, Got a messy curly hair, dull brown hair not as eye-catching as my family's, and my eyes are brown, inherited from someone from my father's side. I actually don't have any idea who it is. lol.
But we both have the same face except for those eyes, hair and obviously the weight. My sister is like a female lead out of the magazine, whereas I am some stupid, lazy and ugly side character of the novel. No, I don't think even an artist would like to draw such an ugly character in their art.
" Stop dozing off! Juliette! Get changed. Don't break your new dress's zipper again. Gosh! Where can I go with this girl?"
As I yawn, My mother grunts throwing the dress on me that she bought for me. " Stop lazing around!!!"
" I won't, okay?" I curled my lip while rolling my eyes, what to do if I always feel so sleepy... Gosh!
" You will, Juliette. Don't be so confident. Just don't go to the front line when our engagement party starts. I don't want to be embarrassed!" Odette scoffs. As usual, her words feel like daggers being stabbed into my heart to bleed.
" Why? I am your sister. Also, I returned home to attend your engagement party. Can't you just be a little soft to your own Sister?" I asked. It's hurting my ego.
" C'mon! This is the main point. Did you look at yourself? I don't think your face resembles any human face. It's a pig face. Moreover, all of my friends don't like to stand with you. You will ruin their mood!"
" Odette!!! You are being too much!" I hiss. She is literally ignoring my feelings.
" Also, what if you fall and break the stage like you broke your chair! I don't want another shameful commotion on my important day!"
" I didn't break my chair, for god sake!!!"
" I don't care. I just want you to stay away from my party. Don't stand when my friends or fiance come. I don't want to feel humiliated..."
How could she! I travelled back home from another state, just to attend the engagement. How could she be so heartless with her own sister?
" Mom! Can't you tell something to her? How could she treat her sister like trash?"
" You are trash! Juliette." Odette laughs loudly, even the people who are in the room laugh at me like I am nothing.
" Mom! Your daughter is being too much now." I called Mom, trying to hold myself back but what breaks my heart more when my mother responds...
" Why are you so eager to stand in the front line? You will fall or trip over anytime. It will ruin Odette's image. Don't need to go front line." My mother adds, giving everyone another chance to laugh at me.
" Oh!" I smile forcefully. It somehow hurts.
" Anyway, Change the dress. If you don't fit in it. Don't come to the party! I don't have time to bring another one for you!-"
" Mom!!!!' I screamed.
" Just directly tell me that you don't want to attend the engagement party. I know I am going to humiliate you. Because I am not as beautiful as Odette is. I know, fine. I won't attend."
Tears stream down my face as I can't engulf the pain that they're causing, just using their words.
"Who told you not to come? Stop overacting! Also, stop crying all the time. It's disgusting!!!" Odette snorts, rolling her eyes.
" You two are so mean. Always been a mean to me!"
I storm out of the room while crying. This is nothing new but still, it's my sister's special day, who was born on the same day as mine, we grew up together.
