Once, there was a kind-hearted young girl who saved the life of a little beggar boy. Amid hunger, bitter cold, and the overwhelming sense of despair, the girl drove away a pack of stray dogs that threatened the boy and gave him a box of chocolates she loved dearly. This simple act planted a seed that would blossom sixteen years later. The boy, now grown, returned to find the girl who had once saved him, silently protecting her in the guise of a naive, seemingly useless husband.
"Thud!"
"Thud!"
Dozens of Benz cars sped in from one direction.
They blocked the exit of Saudade International Airport.
Hundreds of tall, muscular men in black suits stepped out, spreading into two rows.
They parted the bustling crowd, creating a clear path.
Each of them wore a serious expression as if preparing to face an enemy.
A Rolls Royce slowly came to a stop.
A red carpet was laid from the car door to the airport entrance.
Right after, a middle-aged man, dressed like a butler, strode quickly along the red carpet.
Daniel Kensington, dressed casually, stepped slowly out of the airport doors.
The butler and all the men in black bowed at a 90-degree angle and shouted in unison.
"Welcome home, Second Young Master!"
Daniel smirked coldly, scratching his nose.
He turned and walked to the side.
The butler in the middle immediately followed.
"Second Young Master, the master invites you home!"
Daniel sneered, "Does he think I still consider that dog kennel of his worth anything?"
Calling the seaside estate of the capital's most prestigious family a "dog kennel"?
If any of the elite in the capital heard that, they'd be furious enough to spit in his face, enough to drown Daniel.
But the butler didn't dare contradict Daniel's words.
Because Daniel, a hero at Cocooning, had led thousands upon thousands of soldiers.
He radiated an intimidating aura.
He was immensely wealthy.
But he also had another identity.
He was the sole heir of the Kensington family-the most powerful family in the capital.
"Second Young Master, please come with me. The master personally cooked all your favorite childhood dishes."
The butler pleaded sorrowfully.
But he didn't dare get too close.
At that moment, an extraordinary aura radiated from Daniel.
Anyone within a five-meter radius had to hold their breath.
Those within three meters didn't even dare to stand up straight.
"Sixteen years ago, my mother was wrongfully accused and died, and he didn't say a word!"
"Sixteen years ago, I was kicked out of the house, and he didn't bother to show up!"
"And now you dare to show your faces to me?"
Daniel's gaze was filled with unprecedented fury and coldness.
"I'm being merciful by not killing him!"
Daniel walked out of the main hall.
The butler stubbornly followed, reaching out to stop him.
What!?
Daniel shot him a cold glare.
Just that look made the butler tremble with fear.
Sweat poured down his face, his whole body chilled.
Then, his legs gave out, and he collapsed to the ground.
"Go back and tell him not to bother me again, or I'll kill anyone he sends!"
His gaze was so sharp it seemed to pierce the butler's heart.
The suffocating intimidation left the butler gasping for breath.
Thankfully, a car arrived to pick up Daniel. The moment he got in, that invisible aura of menace vanished.
The butler sat on the ground, gasping for air, still shaken.
Inside the car.
Daniel pulled out a small metal box that had been with him for 16 years.
He took out a chocolate bar from the box and let it melt slowly in his mouth.
He loved trying different kinds of chocolate but had never replaced that box.
The soft sweetness of the chocolate suddenly brought him back to memories of 16 years ago.
Sixteen years ago, Daniel was cast out, wandering the streets of Saudade with his mother's ashes.
Cold, hungry, and chased by a stray dog.
In his most desperate, helpless moment.
A little girl with a ponytail and a flowered dress appeared before him.
She waved a stick in her hand, clearly afraid but still brave enough to drive the stray dog away.
Her bright, sunny smile warmed Daniel's heart.
She gave him her most cherished box of chocolates.
That girl gave Daniel the courage and strength to live on.
Later, Daniel became the disciple of a mysterious master and left Saudade.
Cocooning was vast and rich.
But it was chaotic, always on the brink of war.
In five years, he defeated countless enemies in Cocooning and became a hero there.
He was only 15 at the time.
By 18, he had eliminated every obstacle.
He became the top leader of Cocooning.
After 16 years of experience, he had become a unique figure.
If he stomped his foot, the entire world would shake!
But now he chose to return.
He had come back.
Because back then, he had made a promise to the girl.
If he survived, if he remained unmarried,
He would return to marry her.
In an old house in Saudade's historic district.
Sue Channing sat quietly on the sofa.
Her hair was soft.
But her body was stiff, her heart frozen like ice.
Her long, dark hair fell like a waterfall, covering half of her delicate face.
Her eyes were filled with sorrow, tears brimming at the corners.
"Sue, I know you're struggling," her father, Tony Channing, said softly.
"But your brother is in Black Panther's hands. If we don't comply, he may not come back."
Tony Channing held a ransom letter from Black Panther, an underground leader.
Sue's brother, Lucas Channing, had been kidnapped by Black Panther due to gambling debts.
The ransom was two million USD.
Tony, unloved by his parents and overshadowed by his older brother Thomas Channing, lived a life of hardship.
After an accident three years ago that left him with half a leg, he had relied on family heirlooms to support his family, always humble and obedient.
The Channing family, a modest third-tier family in Saudade, controlled a 10-billion-dollar corporation.
Thomas was the company's chairman, and Tony could only ask him for help.
Thomas didn't refuse but offered help on one condition: that Sue, at 25 and still single, let him find her a suitable husband.
"No, there has to be another way," said Sue's mother, Mrs. Lauren Channing, angrily.
Tony mumbled, "Maybe... maybe Thomas genuinely wants a good match for Sue?"
"I spit on that!" Mrs. Lauren Channing spat in front of Tony.
"When has he ever had our family's best interests at heart?"
"I'm even starting to think he set Black Panther up to kidnap our son!"
Tony quickly waved his hands.
"Don't say that. He's been busy handling everything since it happened."
